Pedigree recalls canned dog food sold nationwide over contamination risk

Mars Petcare US, Inc., the maker of Pedigree dog food, has voluntarily recalled two lots of Pedigree Chopped Ground Dinner With Chicken & Duck High Protein canned dog food after the products were found to pose a risk of metal and plastic contamination.

The recall affects products distributed nationwide. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the affected lots were intended to be destroyed after failing the company’s quality standards but were instead diverted from a third-party facility and distributed to retailers.

No injuries or illnesses have been reported as of the recall announcement.
