Florida pet owners are being urged to check their pet food after a voluntary recall was expanded to include an additional lot of freeze-dried pet food due to potentially low levels of thiamine, also known as vitamin B1.
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Go Raw LLC has expanded its recall to include one lot of Steve’s Real Food Freeze-Dried Chicken Recipe after testing found potentially low levels of the essential nutrient.
Florida is among the affected states included in the expansion.
The newly recalled product is sold in a 1.25-pound bag and is marked with lot code C26022 and a best-by date of Jan. 22, 2028.

The FDA said thiamine is an essential nutrient for dogs and cats, playing a critical role in carbohydrate metabolism and neurologic function.
Pets that consume foods deficient in thiamine over an extended period may develop health problems, including decreased appetite, weight loss, excessive salivation and poor growth.
In more advanced cases, pets may experience impaired vision, a wobbly gait, circling, falling, seizures, lethargy and weakness.
According to the FDA, severe thiamine deficiency can be life-threatening if left untreated.
The expansion follows a voluntary recall first announced by Go Raw LLC in February. No illnesses or injuries related to the newly recalled lot have been reported as of the FDA’s announcement.
Consumers who purchased the recalled product should stop feeding it to their pets and contact the place of purchase for information about refunds. Pet owners whose animals have consumed the food and are showing symptoms should contact a veterinarian.
Additional recall information is available through the FDA.
